Meet Coach Des
Desimone grew up in the Bay Area and was a multi-sport athlete at Arroyo High School. He went on to play basketball at Cal, spent 37 years as the Head Men’s Golf Coach, and a 2017 inductee into the Cal Sports Hall of Fame.
History of Cal Golf
Desimone took over as Head Coach after the program was dropped to a club sport in 1979. In 37 years at the helm, Cal won more than 30 tournaments, including the 2004 NCAA Championship, and has produced multiple PGA Tour Winners.
Cal Golf Endowment
Cal Men’s Golf has raised more than $25 million since 1979 to support the program financially. In xxx the Cal Golf Committee created an endowment to fully fund the program in perpetuity and is approaching its $12 million goal to fully fund the program in perpetuity.
